RV PAUKAN 2015 OVERVIEW

Launched in 2015, the lovely Paukan Princess (formerly RV Paukan 2015) is a charming floating hotel on the river which is the latest addition to Ayravata Cruises. This member of Paukan Cruises is one of the smallest cruisers on the Irrawaddy River designed to discover hard-to-reach destinations in this area, bring passengers authentic experiences in their Myanmar river cruise.

The ship is beautifully decorated with a unique blending of modern and traditional Burmese styles. With a small size, the Paukan Princess cruise consists of 4 decks including Lower Deck, Main Deck, Upper Deck, and Sun Deck. It has a capacity of total of 36 passengers with 18 spacious and luxurious cabins. Day 01 SAGAING (L/D)

Get on the ship at Htone Bo Jetty (10:30am - 11:00am) in Sagaing. Enjoy your welcome cocktails and a delicious lunch after that. The ship start to cruise up the river through the wonderful Irrawaddy Dolphin Protected Area (ADPA). This area stretches 74km from Mingun to Kyauk Myaung featuring one - third of the population of this endangered species.

Anchor overnight at a river village which is around 70 km North of Mandalay.

Day 02 KYAUK MYAUNG - MINGUN (B/L/D)

In the morning, get off the ship for an interesting walking tour to the peaceful village of Kyauk Myaung - a popular pottery - making village. Here, you will have a chance to see and learn about the processes of making ceramics, especially the famous 50 - gallon containers. These items were used widely in the British time storing liquor, fish sauce, oil, etc.

Afterwards, back to the ship and we start sailing down the river to Mingun. Don't miss a chance to pay a visit to the enormous unfinished pagoda - Mingun Paya, the world's second largest Mingun bell and the "home for the aged".

Dinner will be served on board. Then, enjoy the amazing dance and theatre performance on the Sundeck.

After breakfast, we disembark the ship for a visit to Kyauk Myaung where is well - known for the making of the 50 - gallon pots. Return the ship for continue cruising up the river for the rest of the day. Moor overnight mid - stream.

Day 03 TAGAUNG (B/L/D)

Today, we wil take a short tour around ancient city of Tagaung including a visit to the Nat's shrine of Bo Bo Gyi, the archaeological zone and the fortifications. Then, back onboard and keep cruising. Moor overnight midstream.

Day 04 SHWEGU AND THE SECOND DEFILE (B/L/D)

Enjoy the spectacular view of huge cliffs and the Second Defile - the largest gorges of Ayeyawaddy river. in the afternoon, we cruise down the river to Katha

To be noted that: If the water level is low, we will do the excursion on a local speed boat.

Day 05 KATHA - BURMESE DAYS (B/L/D)

Today, we will visit Katha and you will have a chance to explore the old streets and the market by trishaw and an Elephant Logging Camp. Katha is the lovely town appearing in the book of George Orwell - "Burmese Days". You can also find the remnants of Irrawaddy Flotilla Company's ships.

Day 06 MINGUN (B/L/D)

We sail downstream for the whole day and stop for a short tour in a river village.

In the afternoon, we reach Mingun where pay a visit to the Myanmar's biggest brick pagoda, the second largest bell in the world and the home for the ages.

Back on board as an interesting drama perfomance is prepared for you on the sundeck.

Day 07 CENTRAL MANDALAY - AMARAPURA (B/L/D)

In the morning, we take a tour around Mandalay exploring Kuthodaw Pagoda as well as Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung Monastery. Then, we will visit a workshop which produces the gold leaf used to decorate Buddha statues at temples in Myanmar. Next, proceed to Mahamuni Pagoda to see how they use the gold leaf.

We spend this afternoon visiting the "City of Immortal" - Amarapura. Contemplate the magical sunset over the longest teak bridge in the world - U Bein on a slow boat floating on the Taungthman Lake.

Day 08 MANDALAY (B)

After breakfast, we get off at Gawein Jetty in Mandalay around 9:00 am.

PAUKAN PRINCESS (RV PAUKAN 2015) POLICY 

1. River Conditions Warning

The Irrawaddy and Chindwin rivers are subject to seasonal rises and falls of water level. So that an alternative itinerary will be offered to Passenger in the case of water levels being too high or low.

Published itineraries are indication only and subject to sudden change. In such events alternative itineraries will be provided and we do our best to ensure that if a stop is missed we make up for it with another stop.

The ship’s manager and captain are jointly responsible for passengers’ comfort and safety.

Passengers must accept their decisions and instructions.

2. Deposit

To secure the booking a 30% deposit is required at the time of confirmation. The remaining balance will be made 70 days prior departure date.

If a booking is made less than 70 days, full fare payment must be made within 48 hours.

3. Cancellation Terms

The cancellation notice must be received in writing either by e-mail or fax. It will be effective on the date of receipt. Cancellation charges, per person, are based upon the date of cancellation:

  • Up to 71 days prior to departure: Deposit will be forfeited.
  • From 70-35 days: 50% of cruise fare
  • From 34 days to “no show”: 100% of cruise fare

4. Children Policy

Up to 2 years: Complimentary in the parent/guardian’s cabin.

3-12 Years: if the child stays in the cabin with one of the parents/guardians 50% of the twin-sharing rate. Upon request we can provide an Extra Bed at US$ 90 net per bed/ night.

5. Minimum Occupancy

For all departures should the occupancy be less than 10 passengers for Short Discovery Cruise and 12 passengers for Exploration and Discovery Cruises the Company reserves the right to cancel the cruise up to 60 days prior the departure date. A confirmation notice in writing will be released by the company to all booked clients and/or their agents within the deadline. In case of cancellation an alternative cruise will be offered and if not acceptable all down payments will be immediately refunded.

6. Insurance

We strongly advise travelers to purchase trip cancellation insurance. We also highly recommend guests to get international medical, baggage loss and delay insurance in the case of bad situations. Paukan Cruise will take no responsibility for lost or stolen personal belongings.
