Day 01 PYAY (L/D)

Embark  the ship at 11:00am. If you have any question about your upcoming journey, please don’t hesitate to ask our staff. After settling into your room, have a welcome beverage on Makara’s sundeck and enjoy beautiful views of the Ayeyarwady River.

In the afternoon, we pay a visit to Pyay. Pyay is used to be an important trade town on the Ayeyarwady. As the day progresses, we will visit the famous Shwesan-Daw pagoda, then visit Shwe Daung village and see the famous glasses-wearing Buddha.

Day 02 THAYET MYO (B/L/D)

Enjoy beautiful morning with a brewed cup of tea or coffee on the sundeck of the Makara Queen, then have an excursion by horse-drawn carriage to Thayet, which is known as a border town between the Royal Burmese North and the British Colonial South.

Back to the ship and enjoy a leisurely afternoon here. Browse the books in the on-board library, have a refreshing beverage in the dining room or relax by our pool.

Also you will have interesting evening by joining in cooking class. There tou will learn more about the dishes of Myanmar, especially two famous dishes: lahpet thoke (green tea leaf salad) and gin thoke (ginger salad).

Day 03 MINHLA (B/L/D)

Enjoy breakfast and then we will have an excursion to the fortress of Minhla. It was built by Italian architects with the aim is to prevent British troops from advancing from the south to Myanmar. After that, we will enjoy an à la carte lunch aboard the Makara Queen.

Have an excursion to the holy ‘Dragon Volcano’ in the afternoon, and then travel by bus to the ancient Myat Thalon Pagoda in Magwe and then admire beautiful sunset over the Ayeryarwady River back in the boat.

After a pre-dinner beverage and dinner from our à la carte menu, we will watch a good film, “The Lady”. The film is about the life of Aung Suun Suu Kyi, who is one of the most popular political figures in Myanmar. When watching the film, you will understand more about the modern history of this country.

Day 04 MAGWE (B/L/D)

After having breakfast, we will have a city tour of Magwe on a local rickshaw. During the excursion, you will be given a chance to discover an authentic Myanmar market and learn ancient techniques from a traditional blacksmith.

Turn back to the boat and have a leisurely afternoon here. Browse the books in the on-board library, have a refreshing beverage in the dining room or relax by our pool.

Enjoy diner and then you will be given a chance to learn more about exotic fruits and vegetables of Myanmar from a presentation from a local farmer and hear a lecture on ancient Myanmar medical techniques from a traditional medicine practitioner.

Day 05 BAGAN (B/L/D)

Have sailing overnight and then we will get the ancient royal capital of Bagan. Bagan is a ancient land in Myanmar, and famous for more than 3.000 religious architectures. Also, it is considered one of the largest archaeological sites in Southeast Asia and a true spectacle to behold.  In the morning, we will pay a visit to many beautiful temples here.

Enjoy lunch on board and then continue to discover Myanmar.

During the day, our guide will accompany with to answer all questions about this ancient kingdom. At the end of the day, we will have dinner aboard the Makara, which is prepared from only the freshest organic ingredients. After the meal, we will enjoy the performance of a traditional Myanmar Puppet, which is happened on the upper deck.

Day 06 YANDABO (B/L/D)

Today morning we will take an excursion to Shwe Pyi Tha Village. There you will get an intimate glimpse of the local life in Myanmar as well as know more about the Makara Queen’s charity work with the community.

As the day continues, we will sail through the confluence of the Chindwin and Ayeyarwady rivers. Have lunch on board and then discover the beautiful village of Yandabo. The village is famous for producing unique terracotta pottery out of riverbank clay. Also it was a place where the Yandabo Treaty was signed; ending the first Anglo-Burmese war between the British East India Company and the Royal Burmese Household of Ava in 1826.

Day 07 SAGAING (B/L/D)

Today we will cruise to the beautiful Sagaing Hills. Sagaing is best known as an important religious and meditation centre for Myanamar people. The 14th century Sun-U-Ponnya-Shin pagoda will be the first place to visit. Then, we will have a departure by horse and cart to Ava, which is formerly called as Inwa. In the afternoon, we will pay a visit to the famous Mingun Paya pagoda. The pagoda was originally planned to construct as the largest pagoda in the world but due to the death of King Bodawphaya in 1918 so it was delayed.

Before ending the voyage, we will have a farewell cocktail party on board, followed by a gala dinner.

Day 08 MANDALAY (B)

Get up early in the morning and enjoy the last time aboard the Makara. Enjoy a brewed cup of tea or coffee on the sundeck and then go ahead to our international breakfast buffet. You will be given a chance to hear an interesting storytelling session on the ancient history of Buddhism in Myanmar from a historical expert. Disembark on the land, and say goodbye to the staff and the Makara Queen. Our transportation will meet and take us from the pier to continue to discover Myanmar in all her glory.

Day 01 MANDALAY - YANDABO (L/D)

Embark the ship at 9:00am and start sailing after half an hour. After cast off on your voyage, please don’t hesitate to acquaint yourself with the Makara Queen, because our staff are willing to answer any question about your upcoming journey. Check in your room and enjoy a welcome drink on Makara’s sundeck as well as admire the spectacular views of the Ayeyarwady River. 

At around 4:30pm, we arrive at Yandabo - a peaceful village specialised in pottery making. You have 1 hour exploring around the area and observing the skillful techniques. 

Tonight we moor at the Chindwin confluence.

Day 02 YANDABO - BAGAN (B/L/D)

We will arrive in Bagan at around 9:00am this morning. An excursion by coach will be provided. You will have a chance to discover the history and ancient architecture of the temple plain of more than 3,000 monuments. Have lunch on board and then we will continue our visit to the notable temples of Bagan. After that, we move next to the lacquerware workshop where the traditional techniques are still being practised.

When the day comes to an end, enjoy the spectacular sunset over Bagan before heading back to the ship.

Day 03 BAGAN - SALE (B/L/D)

Early this morning, the ship set sails from Bagan to Sale for an interesting 2 hour sightseeing around the town. Upon arrival, we will pay a visit to the stunning teak monastery of Yoke Sone Kyaung and contemplate many beautiful colonial houses.

Day 04 MAGWE (B/L/D)

Enjoy breakfast and then we will take a tour around Magwe city on a local rickshaw. This city tour will make you get more understanding about the authentic Myanmar market and learn ancient techniques from a traditional blacksmith.

After that turn back to the Makara and have a leisurely afternoon there. Browse the books in the onboard library, have a refreshing beverage in the dining room or relax by our swimming pool.  After dinner, you will be given a chance to hear a presentation from a local farmer about the exotic fruits and vegetables of Myanmar, as well as a lecture on ancient Myanmar medical techniques from a traditional medicine practitioner.

Day 05 MINHA - MAGWE (B/L/D)

After breakfast, we will have an excursion to the fortress of Minhla. It was built by Italian architects to assist the Burmese King in preventing British troops from advancing from the south. After that, we will have an à la carte lunch aboard the Makara Queen.

Day 01 BAGAN – RIVER VILLAGE STOP (L/D)

Embarkation time is 11:30 AM at Irrawaddy Princess Jetty, enjoy a welcome drink and briefing. We will have voyage upstream and stop off at the typical river Village in the afternoon.

Day 02 RIVER VILLAGE – YANDABO VILLAGE – MYIN MU (B/L/D)

In the early morning, we will have voyage upstream to Yandabo Village. The village is famous for the production of terracotta from the riverbank clay. There you will see and know the pottery making process at various stages. Also it was recognized as the site where Treaty was signed; ending the first Anglo-Burmese war between the British East India Company and the Royal Burmese Household of Ava in 1826.

Back to the boat and have voyage upstream and Moor overnight near Myin Mu.

Day 03 MYIN MU – MONYWA – MYIN MU (B/L/D)

Get to Monywa in the morning. After having breakfast, we will continue the trip by coach to splendid Sambuddhia Kat Kyaw pagoda and you will see more than 500,000 Buddha statues placed in the pagoda. After that, we continue drive to Kyaukka village to visit a “plain lacquer” ware type workshop.  The lacquer ware is called “Kyauk Kar” in Myanmar, which has only two colors, black and red made by natural pigments and the Aung Sakyar Stupa with the longest reclining Buddha of Myanmar (333 ft/ 100 m).

Have lunch at the local restaurant and dinner at onboard.

Day 04 MYIN MU – INWA – SAGAING (B/L/D)

Today we will have voyage upstream and upon arrival to Royal Capital of Inwa (Ava), we will have departure by horse-drawn carriage to visit Nanmyint Watch Tower, the remain of the palace building nickname “the leaning tower of Ava ‘Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, built of brick and stucco and Bargayar Monastery famous for its impressive ornate woodcarving and teak posts. After that turn back to cruise to continue sailing upstream and get to Sagaing. We will spend about 2,5 hours to discover Sagaing by coach. There we will visit the most important Buddhist Religion site.

Turn back to the boat and sail downstream. Admire the beautiful sunset over Sagaing Hill. and moor overnight at a sandbank mid-stream, near Sagaing.

Day 05 SAGAING – MINGUN – MANDALAY SIGHTSEEING (B/L/D)

Today in the early morning, we will continue sail upstream in 2,5 hours to get the Mingun Pagoda Complex. During the trip to the unfinished pagoda, you will see the 90 tones Mingun Bell, which is the biggest hanging undamaged bell in the world and the “Home For The Aged”. As the day progresses, we will continue sail downstream to Gaw Win Jetty.

Have lunch and then take a visit by coach to Mahamuni Buddha Image – a bronze Buddha image castled during the lifetime of Buddha himself, continue pay a visit to Tapestry works, Wood carving & bronze castling workshops, Marble carving workshop and silk weaving home cottage.

Visit Mandalay Palace, Shwenandaw Monastery, which is highlighted with its exquisite wood carvings, and continue visit gold leaf beating workshop, Atumashi Monastery, Kuthodaw Pagoda. Back to Cruise and have dinner at on sand bank as a fare ware.

Day 06 MANDALAY (B)

Cast off early morning, and we will continue voyage downstream and get to Kyat Yat Jetty at about 08:30 am. Disembark from board.

Day 01 MANDALAY - MINGUN - SAGAING (L/D)

Embark the ship at around 10:00am at MahaThamu Di Chaung Jetty (Sagaing). Enjoy your welcome cocktails and some refreshments onboard. The safety briefing will also be provided. The ship cruises up the river for a visit to Mingun - an ancient capital of Burma. Here, we will explore the huge unfinished brick pagoda called Pahtodawgyi, the second biggest ringing bell in the world - Mingun and the home for the age.

Back to the ship for lunch and Makara Queen cruise starts to sail downstream to Sagaing. Spend time discover some notable Buddhist constructions here as this is the most important religious sites in Myanmar. 

Enjoy the spendid sunset over Sagaing Hills onboard.

Day 02 SAGAING - YANDABO VILLAGE (B/L/D)

We sail to Yandabo this morning for a 1 hour excursion. Yandabo, which is best known for producing unique terracotta pottery out of riverbank clay, also it is steeped in history. The village was a place where the Yandabo Treaty was signed; ending the first Anglo-Burmese war between the British East India Company and the Royal Burmese Household of Ava in 1826.

Return to the ship as we keep crusing downstream and moor overnight at Chindwin confluence.

Day 03 YANDABO VILLAGE - BAGAN (B)

We reach Bagan this morning. After breakfast, disembark from the ship of Makara Queen cruise at 9:00am at Irrawaddy Princess Jetty.

Enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea or coffee on the upper deck while sailing upstream to Yandabo Village, which is famous for producing unique terracotta pottery out of riverbank clay. Also, this was a place where the Yandabo Treaty was signed to end the first Anglo-Burmese war between the British East India Company and the Royal Burmese Household of Ava in 1826.

Day 03 MANDALAY (B)

Today is the last time on the aboard the Makara. Let’s get up early to enjoy the fresh air in the morning. After breakfast, say goodbye to the crew and disembark the ship at 9:00am.

1. If there is any changes regarding schedule, itinerary or times, RV Makara Queen will change at short notice. The cruise reserves the right to cancel or pospone up to 30 days before departure. Whenthe water level is too high or low, passengers will be offerd with alternative itinerary.

2. All quoted prices, invoices and receipts will be given in US dollar.

3. 10 percen service charge and 5 per cent government tax will not be include in all rates.

4. Passengers will take the responsibility for loss of baggage, money, and other personal items.

5. The cruise has the right to introduce a fuel surcharge whenever there is an increase in fuel price during the trip.

6. It is recommended for elderly clients and pregnant travelers to consult their doctor to ensure they are fit to travel.

7. The manager and the crew will try their best to ensure that there is no change happens because of weather, mechanical difficulties or unexpectied situations.

8. The policies is apply for both direct bookings and bookings through sales agents.

9. 30 days prior to departure time, cruise tickets must be issued. Passengers will not allow to board the cruise without the ticket.

10. Bookings cancelled because of extreme weather will not be refunded.

11. All passengers are required to board the cruise at least 30 minutes before departure.
