RV PAUKAN 2007 - THE BOUTIQUE SISTER OF RV PAUKAN 1947

This Paukan Cruises ship was built in 2007  at the Myanmar Shipyards in Yangon and is a sister to another Paukan cruiser built in 1947. However, RV Paukan 2007 is a bigger vessel at 183 feet (55.78m) in length. Its beam is 38 feet (11.58m) and the draft is 3.09 feet (1.14m). This ship runs on diesel engines, safety, and emergency equipment in place, and reliable communication systems as well.

RV Paukan 2007 ship is truly a boutique hotel on the river which is a unique combination of modern and traditional style. The timber-walled cabins are designed with colonial motif cupboards, dressers and doors while the ceiling is in traditional Burmese.

The RV Paukan 2007 offers suites, deluxe, superior cabins as well as some single cabins for guests or guides. The beds are comfortable. And the rooms are enough for 55 passengers who will be taken care of by a 30-member crew.

Onboard of RV Paukan 2007, there are also 2 massage rooms on the Lower Deck serving traditional Burmese massage techniques giving guests the most soothing relaxation. The Sun Deck of RV Paukan 2007 features a stage for cultural performances, a mini-bar, and lounge for relaxation and fun. Day 01 MANDALAY (SAGAING) – CRUISING TO BAGAN (L/D)

In the morning, embark the ship at 10.00 hrs at SAGAING jetty. After lunch, continue your cruise to Bagan. Stop at Yandabo-where you will reach in the late afternoon. Yandabo is the name of beautiful pottery village. It is historically recognized for the signing of the Yandabo Treaty which took place under a tree on the riverbank in 1826, between the British and Royal Burmese House. Moor overnight near the village of Shwe Nann Tint.

Day 02 BAGAN (B)

In the early morning, you will sail downstream to Bagan-the World Heritage Site which is located on the banks of the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River, in the Mandalay Region of Burma.

The thousands of temples that are spread across the plains of Bagan combine to form one of the richest archaeological sites in Asia and provide views quite unlike anywhere else on earth.

After breakfast, you will visit a typical village to learn about local life. Take time to enjoy stunning views near Bagan at sunrise. You will disembark from the ship at Bagan Aye Yar jetty by 9.30 hrs.

Day 03 MANDALAY (B)

In the early morning, take your time to enjoy beautiful views at sunrise. After breakfast, disembark from the ship at Sagaing Jetty (Thursday only) or Gawein jetty (Sunday Only) at around 09.30 hrs.

Day 01 MANDALAY (GAWEIN) – MINGUN (L/D)

At 12h00, embark the ship at Gawein jetty. After lunch, you will start to sail to Mingun- a little town along the Ayeyarwady River. Here you will visit Mingun Bell. The bell is housed nearby the Paya in a Zayat, an intricate Burmese style pavilion with a multi tiered roof. The bell measuring almost 4 meters high is the largest working bell in the world.

Continue onto Mingun Pagoda. The Mingun Pagoda is a massive unfinished pagoda built at the end of the 18th century, and was the largest pagoda in the country. Dinner is followed by a Dance and Drama performance by the Mandalay Arts School on the sundeck.  Moor Overnight at a sandbank mid-stream.

Day 02 MINGUN – SAGAING –RIVER VILLAGE (B/L/D)

In the early morning, sail downstream. On the way, you have chance to enjoy beautiful sights over the river and observe daily life of its banks. Take your time to enjoy the sunrise over Sagaing Hill.

After breakfast, go ashore to visit Sagaing – a hill studded with many Pagodas and Monasteries rich in wood carving and religious art.

This morning, we reach Yandabo village where the Peace Treaty was signed in 1826 putting an end to the first Anglo - Burmese war. Nowadays, the village is well - known for making the fine pottery products. We get off the ship and take a short tour around the area and visit a monastery.

Back to the ship as we keep sailing up the river for the rest of the day. Dock overnight near Myin Mu.

Return to Myin Mu. The ship docks at the bank of the river.

In the afternoon, we will visit Salay - a lovely town of 13th century Buddhist constructions and splendid 19th century teak monasteries and buildings with colonial style. Our first stop is Salay House - an old warehouse in the British time. Then, we take a walk along the main Strand street and explore the local market before paying a visit to Yoke Soun Kyaung Taw Gyi wooden monastery which is considered as the duplicate of the Crown Prince House of Mandalay. Next, we pay a visit to Mann Paya and some beautiful colonial buildings of Salay.

Day 02 BAGAN (B/L/D)

This morning, we will begin our journey in Bagan, one of the most famous destinations in Myanmar. First, we pay a visit to Shwezigon Pagoda where is said to hold the bone and tooth of Gautama Buddha. Then, proceed to the magnificent Htilominlo which was built by King Htilominlo right in the place he was chosen to be a King. The temple features the finest plaster carvings on the arch pediments as well as the murals on the ceiling. On the way back to the ship  for lunch, we will stop at Thatbyinnyu Pagoda to take photos.

In the afternoon, you will have a chance to observe the 12th century mural paintings inside the cave temple of Gubyaukgyi. Up next, a sand painting demostration will be provided by a local artist. Day 03 BAGAN - RIVER VILLAGE (B/L/D)

This morning, we will explore some local markets in Bagan where sells many kinds of local products from fabric, longyis to wood and rattan products. Next, you will have many options to choose. First, you can pay a visit to the lacquerware workshop to experience the traditional making process. Or you can choose to explore the temple plain by horse carriage or bicycle. Another option is the incredible hot air balloon ride over Bagan.

Afterwards, back to the ship around noon as it continues to sail.

In the afternoon, we stop at a river village for a walk.

Day 04 YANDABO (B/L/D)

This morning, we reach Yandabo, a river village which specializes in pot making. We will visit some workshops and a monastery. Then, we cruise upstream and anchor overnight near Myin Mu.

Day 05 MONYWA - SAGAING (B/L/D)

This morning, you will be transfered to Monywa by coach to explore the Hpowindaung cave where contains hundreds of Buddha Statues and ancient mural paintings. Lunch will be served at the local restaurant in Win Unity Hotel. 

In the afternoon, we will discover Sambuddhai Kat Kyaw pagoda and its great number of Buddha images. Back to the ship for dinner and stay overnight on board near Myin Mu.

Day 06 AVA - SAGAING - AMARAPURA (B/L/D)

This morning, we explore Ava by horse cart including a visit to the stunning teak Bagaya Kyaung Monastery which is 200 years old, Nanmyint watchtower and the Me Nu Ok Kyaung Monastery. After that, return to the ship and sail to Sagaing. 

In the afternoon, we discover Sagaing Hill where is home to plethora of pagodas and monasteries owing rich wood carvings and religious arts. Then, you will be transfered to Amarapura by coach. Here, take your time explore the traditional silk weaving workshop before heading to U Ben Bridge. This is the longest teak bridge in the world as well as a perfect spot to catch the splendid sunset view.

Day 07 MINGUN - CENTRAL MANDALAY (B/L/D)

After breakfast, we will take a walking tour around Mingun. First, we will visit King Bodawpaya's monumental, the famous unfinished stupa - Mingun Paya. Then, continue our exploration to Mingun Bell, the world's second largest ringing bell. After that, you will have some time to go shopping at the pop - up market before returning to the ship for lunch.

In the afternoon, we explore central Mandalay by visiting Mahamuni Pagoda and gold leaf beating and mable carving workshops. Next, visit Kuthodaw Pagoda containing the world's biggest book. Finally, we will watch sunset at Mandalay Hill.

Day 01 MANDALAY - MINGUN (L/D)

We will get on the ship at Gawein Jetty around 11:00 am and 12:00 pm. You will be served welcome cocktails and lunch after that.

In the afternoon, we will visit Mahamuni Pagoda and marble carving workshop. After that, we will visit Amarapura. Here, take your time explore the traditional silk weaving workshop before heading to U Bein Bridge. This is the longest teak bridge in the world as well as a perfect spot to catch the splendid sunset view.

Day 06 SALAY - BAGAN (B/L/D)

Today, we will visit Salay - a lovely town of 13th century Buddhist constructions and splendid 19th century teak monasteries and buildings with colonial style. Our first stop is Salay House - an old warehouse in the British time. Then, we take a walk along the main Strand street and explore the local market before paying a visit to Yoke Soun Kyaung Taw Gyi wooden monastery which is considered as the duplicate of the Crown Prince House of Mandalay. Next, we pay a visit to Mann Paya and some beautiful colonial buildings of Salay.  Back to the ship for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will have a chance to observe the 12th century mural paintings inside the cave temple of Gubyaukgyi. Up next, a sand painting demostration will be provided by a local artist. Afterwards, we discover the next - door temple of Myazedi where to hold both lingustic and historical values. After that, move to a lacquerware workshop for a closer look at the traditional techniques.

Day 07 BAGAN (B/L/D)

OPTIONAL: Balloon over Bagan is available early this morning at an additional cost. This is one of the best things to do in Bagan that you do not want to miss.

This morning, we will begin our journey in Bagan, one of the most famous destinations in Myanmar. First, we pay a visit to Shwezigon Pagoda where is said to hold the bone and tooth of Gautama Buddha. Then, proceed to the visit the bustling local market of Bagan where sells a variety of products. On the way back to the ship  for lunch, we will stop at Thatbyinnyu Pagoda to take photos.

Afternoon, we proceed to the magnificent Htilominlo which was built by King Htilominlo right in the place he was chosen to be a King. The temple features the finest plaster carvings on the arch pediments as well as the murals on the ceiling. Ananda temple is also a not - to - be - missed site in Bagan. RV PAUKAN 2007 POLICY 

1. River Conditions Warning

The Irrawaddy and Chindwin rivers are subject to seasonal rises and falls of water level. So that an alternative itinerary will be offered to Passenger in the case of water levels being too high or low.

Published itineraries are indication only and subject to sudden change. In such events alternative itineraries will be provided and we do our best to ensure that if a stop is missed we make up for it with another stop.

The ship’s manager and captain are jointly responsible for passengers’ comfort and safety.

Passengers must accept their decisions and instructions.

2. Deposit

To secure the booking a 30% deposit is required at the time of confirmation. The remaining balance will be made 70 days prior departure date.

If a booking is made less than 70 days, full fare payment must be made within 48 hours.

3. Cancellation Terms

The cancellation notice must be received in writing either by e-mail or fax. It will be effective on the date of receipt. Cancellation charges, per person, are based upon the date of cancellation:

Up to 71 days prior to departure: Deposit will be forfeited.

From 70-35 days: 50% of cruise fare

From 34 days to “no show”: 100% of cruise fare

4. Children Policy

Up to 2 years: Complimentary in the parent/guardian’s cabin.

3-12 Years: if the child stays in the cabin with one of the parents/guardians 50% of the twin-sharing rate. Upon request we can provide an Extra Bed at US$ 90 net per bed/ night.

5. Minimum Occupancy

For all departures should the occupancy be less than 10 passengers for Short Discovery Cruise and 12 passengers for Exploration and Discovery Cruises the Company reserves the right to cancel the cruise up to 60 days prior the departure date. A confirmation notice in writing will be released by the company to all booked clients and/or their agents within the deadline. In case of cancellation an alternative cruise will be offered and if not acceptable all down payments will be immediately refunded.

6. Insurance

We strongly advise travelers to purchase trip cancellation insurance. We also highly recommend guests to get international medical, baggage loss and delay insurance in the case of bad situations. Paukan Cruise will take no responsibility for lost or stolen personal belongings.
